How to install IPTV on Android

Updated October 2026·4 min read·By the VOLTIX team

Android is the most flexible platform for IPTV, it covers phones, tablets and TV boxes, and most have the Google Play Store built in, so setup is a quick install. For cheaper boxes that don't include Play, you can sideload the same apps just as easily. Here's both routes.

Get the VOLTIX app
The easiest way on Android: our own app for phone, tablet, Firestick & Android TV.

What you'll need

  • Any Android phone, tablet or TV box
  • An active VOLTIX subscription (Xtream login or M3U link)
  • A connection of at least 25 Mbps for 4K

The easy way: Google Play

  1. Open the Google Play Store. On a TV box install TiviMate (missing from Play? use the steps below); on a phone or tablet install XCIPTV PLAYER (TiviMate is made for TV remotes, not touch screens).
  2. Open the app and choose the Xtream codes login (in TiviMate: Add playlist → Xtream codes), or add your M3U link.
  3. Enter your server URL, username and password exactly as shown, and the channels load.

Your server URL, username, password and M3U link are in the welcome email we send you right after you buy. It has two playlist links: the full playlist (live TV, movies and series) and Live TV only, a much smaller list for TV apps that are slow or cannot load the full one.

Boxes without Play: sideload the APK

Some budget Android boxes don't ship with the Play Store. That's fine, you sideload the app:

  1. Install Downloader (by AFTVnews) or use the box's browser, and download TiviMate from tivimate.com/apk (in Downloader: code 272483).
  2. When Android asks, tap Settings and turn on Allow from this source for that app (on Android TV boxes: Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources), then install.
  3. Open it and add your VOLTIX login exactly as above.

On a TV box? TiviMate gives the best big-screen experience; its programme guide is the finest around. On a phone or tablet, XCIPTV PLAYER or our own VOLTIX app is easier to use. Compare them in our TiviMate vs IPTV Smarters guide.

Fixing buffering on Android

Clear the app cache, close background apps, and prefer 5GHz Wi-Fi or ethernet on a TV box. If multiple channels still freeze at peak on a fast line, it's a provider-side single-source stream, which our own restreaming servers smooth out automatically. Full checklist: fix IPTV buffering.

Android IPTV FAQ

TiviMate or IPTV Smarters on Android?
TiviMate for a TV box (best guide and interface). IPTV Smarters Pro has no official download right now (its maker's site is offline), so on a phone or tablet use XCIPTV PLAYER or our own VOLTIX app.
Is sideloading an APK safe?
Yes, when you install a known player from its maker's own site, like TiviMate from tivimate.com/apk. Turn "unknown sources" back off afterwards if you prefer.
Will one login work on my phone and box?
Yes. One VOLTIX login works across all your devices, and multi-device plans let you watch several screens at once.
