How to install IPTV on an LG Smart TV

Updated October 2026·4 min read·By the VOLTIX team

LG's webOS makes IPTV setup easy: everything comes from the TV's own app store (Apps, called LG Content Store on older models), so there's no sideloading and nothing to modify. Most LG players show a code on screen and you add your VOLTIX playlist on the app maker's website from your phone. It works on LG Smart TVs with webOS from roughly 2016 onward.

In a hurry? Grab a free 24-hour VOLTIX trial (no card) and follow the four steps below.

What you'll need

  • An LG Smart TV running webOS (2016 or newer)
  • An active VOLTIX subscription (your M3U link)
  • A phone or computer, to add your playlist on the app's website
  • A connection of at least 25 Mbps for 4K

Step-by-step

  1. Press Home, open Apps (or the LG Content Store on older models) and search. Sign in with your LG account if asked.
  2. Install Smart IPTV and open it. On LG it shows a device ID (not a MAC address): note it.
  3. On a phone or computer, go to siptv.app/mylist, enter that ID, paste your VOLTIX M3U link and send it.
  4. Restart the app (or press 0 on the remote to reload): your channels load.

Your server URL, username, password and M3U link are in the welcome email we send you right after you buy. It has two playlist links: the full playlist (live TV, movies and series) and Live TV only, a much smaller list for TV apps that are slow or cannot load the full one.

Smart IPTV has a free trial, then a one-time activation fee of 5.49 EUR per TV at the time of writing, paid to the app maker. IBO Player Pro works the same way: note the MAC address and Device Key it shows, then add your M3U link at iboproapp.com under Manage playlists.

Want a free player? SS IPTV is free in the LG store: open its Settings → Content → External playlists → Add, paste your M3U link and press Save.

Thanks to anti-freeze streaming, VOLTIX restreams each channel through its own servers with a generous buffer, so a provider dip during a big event doesn't reach your LG, no frozen screen.

Fixing buffering on LG

Most LG buffering is down to Wi-Fi. Use the 5GHz band or plug in with ethernet, and clear the app if a channel stalls. If a fast connection still freezes only at peak, that's a single-source stream, exactly what our own restreaming smooths out. See the full buffering fix guide.

LG IPTV FAQ

Which app should I use on LG?
Smart IPTV is the most widely used on webOS, IBO Player Pro is a good alternative, and SS IPTV is free. All three take your VOLTIX M3U link.
My LG is older than 2016, what now?
Plug a cheap Firestick into an HDMI port and follow our Firestick guide, it turns any TV into a smart one.
Is it legal to install these apps?
Yes, installing an IPTV player from LG's official app store is fine. Responsibility for the content you access rests with you and your local laws.
