How to install IPTV on Google TV & Android TV

Google TV and Android TV (the Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield, onn 4K and many Sony, TCL and Philips TVs) run Android TV, so they have the Google Play Store built in, and they can also install players with the free Downloader app. It's the platform where the excellent TiviMate player really shines.

What you'll need

  • A Google TV or Android TV device (Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, Shield, or a TV with Google TV built in)
  • An active VOLTIX subscription (Xtream login or M3U link)
  • A connection of at least 25 Mbps for 4K

Step-by-step

  1. Open the Google Play Store and search for TiviMate. If it's listed, install it.
  2. Not listed? TiviMate is sometimes missing from Play. Install Downloader (by AFTVnews) from Play, turn on developer mode (Settings → System → About, click Android TV OS build until it says you are a developer), then in Downloader enter 272483 (or tivimate.com/apk) and install TiviMate; when asked, allow Install unknown apps for Downloader.
  3. In TiviMate choose Add playlist → Xtream codes, enter your server URL, username and password, press Next, name the playlist and press Done (or choose the M3U option and paste your link).
  4. Your channels and guide load.

Your server URL, username, password and M3U link are in the welcome email we send you right after you buy. It has two playlist links: the full playlist (live TV, movies and series) and Live TV only, a much smaller list for TV apps that are slow or cannot load the full one.

Fixing buffering on Google TV

Google TV IPTV FAQ

Is Google TV the same as Android TV?
Google TV is the newer interface on top of Android TV. Setup is identical, both use the Play Store and the same apps.
Does TiviMate cost anything?
The free version plays one playlist with live TV and the guide. Premium (yearly or lifetime, for up to 5 devices) adds more playlists, recording, catch-up and multi-view: you buy it in the TiviMate Companion app and unlock it under Settings → Unlock Premium.
Will it work on my Nvidia Shield?
Yes. The Shield is one of the best devices for IPTV: install TiviMate (from the Play Store, or with Downloader as above) and follow the steps.
