Put your computer on any TV

Updated July 2026·By the VOLTIX team

Here is a handy trick a lot of people never think to set up. You can turn any computer on your home network into one of your channels and flip to it with your remote, picture and sound together. Whatever is on that monitor lands on the big screen, in any room. It works through free screen-sharing software on the computer's side; what VOLTIX adds is the slot to plug it into and the step-by-step to get there.

What it actually does

It turns any PC in your home into one of your channels. You scroll your normal channel list, land on your computer, and there it is on the TV, live. No casting dance from your phone every time, no swapping HDMI cables, no walking upstairs to see what's running. It's just there, like every other channel.

What people use it for

  • Keeping a live dashboard or the markets up on the living-room TV while you get on with your day.
  • Putting a video call on the big screen so the whole room can join.
  • Throwing whatever's on the study computer onto the TV downstairs.
  • Watching something from a PC app that isn't on your TV, on the TV anyway.

How it works

A short, one-time setup on the computer publishes its screen to your home network, and we add it to your lineup as a channel. From then on it just works. Everything runs locally, over your own network, so it doesn't touch your internet allowance and nothing about your screen ever leaves your home. Our setup guides walk you through it step by step.

Good to know

There's a small, steady delay of a second or two, which is ideal for viewing and keeping an eye on things. It isn't designed for using the TV as an interactive monitor you type on. And because it's a local stream, it doesn't use up your channel connections, so it can play on every TV in the house at once.

FAQ

Do I need an app on the TV?
No. Your computer shows up inside the IPTV player you already use, so there's nothing extra to install on the TV. The setup happens on the computer side.
Does it need fast internet?
No. It stays on your local home network, so your internet speed doesn't matter and nothing leaves your home.
Can I use the TV as a second monitor to work on?
It's built for viewing and monitoring, not interactive work. There's a second or two of delay, so typing on it would feel laggy, but as a live display it's perfect.
